For the boy I once was, knowing someone cared would have meant everything. That kindness still means so much today.

Why I'm Opening This Door

For a long time, I learned to keep people at a distance and carry things quietly.

Writing my memoir changed that. Somewhere in those pages, I found the boy I had spent years trying not to see—the frightened boy, the lonely boy, the one who kept going anyway.

And little by little, I started letting him come home.

Opening this door is part of that. It is simply my way of letting people come a little closer.

Some may read. Some may share a kind word. Some may choose to offer a personal gift.

I can’t change the past, but if something in my story brings someone a little comfort, a little courage, or a little hope, then something beautiful has come from it.

Where I Am Today

I’m still healing, and some days are easier than others.

The little boy I once was still shows up sometimes—with his doubts, his fears, and that quiet question: Am I enough?

But I don’t walk through those moments alone anymore. My wife, Manon, has a beautiful way of reminding me of the strength I sometimes forget I have.

I’m also learning to let go of anger, make room for peace, and accept the good things that find their way into my life.

I’m still becoming the man I want to be—and if something I’ve lived through can bring a little hope to someone else, that feels like a beautiful place to keep going.
